Artist Statement
Lucia Garcia-Romeu (b. 1983, Miami, United States) is a painter, sculptor, and mixed media artist who lives and works in Miami and Key Largo. She works in these media because she enjoys the process and the learning experience. She is inspired by the visual artist Frida Kahlo, being originally fearless.
The main subject of Garcia-Romeu's work is self-knowledge which is important because it helps to explore aspects she doesn't feel words properly convey. Her artistry consists of trusting the process. This is important to understanding her work because the images are created with a vague idea and then time and media create the final piece. She is connected to the contemporary critical dialog of her media through the ideas of the theorist Jung.
